Dee Winfield and Holden Hammontree were the top finishers in the 5K, while Micah Risk and Kyle Paul won the 10K race at in Thursday’s Lake Norman Turkey Trot in Cornelius, organized by Epic Sports Marketing. Meanwhile, 48 runners braved the 20-degree temperatures to run both races back-to-back, in a “distance dare.” The women’s and men’s titles there went to Micah Risk and Mike Beigay.

Hundreds of runners competed in the races. Proceeds will benefit AMESPA Children’s Research and Treatment Foundation.
